Defending Your Family
“Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?” Galatians 5:7
There are three different institutions that God has personally established in this world. These institutions are the family, the government, and the church. Family was the first institution that God created, and the family has been blessed of God. However, Satan hates everything that God has established, therefore he hates the family as God ordained it. He has been spending thousands of years trying to “recreate” or confuse what the family is. I believe that there is more confusion today concerning the family than at any time in history.
God laid out the family structure very clearly at the beginning of time. “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,” (Matthew 19:4) This is the very basics of a family. For a family to begin there must be a man and a woman. This means that Sodomites cannot have a family. You cannot start a family with two men, or with two women. It is impossible for a child to have two fathers or two mothers. This is genetically impossible because God did not design the family to work that way.
Continuing to speak about the family, Christ went on further in the next verse. “And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?” (Matthew 19:5) God not only intended that a family would begin with a man and a woman, but that this man and woman would have a union to where they would become one flesh. This union is called marriage. Fornication has done so much damage to the family structure because children are born to parents who are not united. This sin of fornication has done great damage to our society as a whole. Children need the balanced care of a father and mother who are securely united in marriage.
God not only intended that the family would begin by a man and woman who were bound by the bonds of matrimony, but he also intended that this union would be permanent. “Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” (Matthew 19:6) God never intended that these union of marriage would be severed by divorce. He desires that these bonds would last forever. God’s intent has always been one man marries one woman for a lifetime of happiness together. Incompatibility in a marriage is no more than an excuse for an exit. Maintaining a healthy marriage requires work, but sadly people give up on working on bettering themselves or their marriage and they simply declare themselves no longer compatible. This was never what God wanted for the family. What He has joined together no man should put asunder.
The somewhat lengthy introduction you just read was to lay a foundation of truth concerning the family. We return now to our verse in the heading. “Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?” (Galatians 5:7) The paragraphs above explain the truth concerning the family that Christ taught in Matthew chapter nineteen. This is the truth, however many today are not following the truths mentioned above. Our children are confused as to what a family is. They have come to believe that fornication is normal, and that marriage is a disposable commitment. They have come to believe that the union of two men in a Sodomite relationship is just as valid as true marriage as ordained by God. These children of recent generations have been confused. This now creates an adult society that is confused about the family. Satan is accomplishing his goal of destroying our families and the family structure. How is he doing this? He is doing this with the “who” mentioned in Galatians chapter five and verse seven.
There have been countless people who have been given access to the family that have not benefited the family, but rather have hindered the family from obeying God’s truth. These people can be found in the halls and classrooms of our schools, on your children’s favorite television programs, on our Facebook pages, and even in our face-to-face acquaintances we call friends. Who is it that is teaching and educating the family to not obey the truth?
You find the who in a teacher who stands in the classroom and announces to the children that gender in fluid and that we can choose our gender. Who is teaching our children contrary to the truth?
You find the who in the content creators of such famed children’s educational shows like “Sesame Street” where they introduce characters who have two fathers in an attempt to normalize what God has called sin. Who is it that is hindering our children from obeying the truth through a television screen?
You will find the who in the songwriter’s lyrics of popular songs in our culture that glorify sin and rebellion. I especially think of one song that promotes a young person’s ability to just let it go and not worry about being good or obeying rules. Lyrics that enter the minds of our youth and begin to break down the moral code that they have learned from God’s Word. Who is hindering us from obeying the truth through our music?
The list of sources that act as tools of the Devil to hinder us from doing right could go on and on. The bottom line is that we need to protect our family. Defend your family from the attacks of the Devil. It is not safe to fail to monitor who is teaching our family. You cannot trust PBS and Disney to teach our children what is right. I am not saying that these are evil in their entirety, but parents need to monitor what their children are watching and listening to, and seeing on their phones, and social media. For if we fail to defend in these lanes of communication and education then the Devil will absolutely use these lanes to penetrate the minds of our children. We must defend!
